Data Transfer Rate Converter
Convert Mbps, MB/s, Gbps and other bandwidth units.
1 megabit per second equals 0.125 megabytes per second
About data transfer units
Internet rates may be stated in megabits per second while file transfers are reported in megabytes per second. The same nominal 100 Mbps rate equals 12.5 MB/s before overhead. This converter changes the units of a rate; it does not predict network performance.
A byte per second is eight bits per second. Decimal Mbps and MB/s use powers of 1000; MiB/s uses a binary prefix. These are equivalent nominal rates; protocol overhead and network conditions affect achieved file-transfer speed.
