About luminous intensity units
Luminous intensity is light emitted in a particular direction, measured in candela — one of the seven SI base units. Indicator LEDs are rated in millicandela. Intensity is not the same quantity as total output (lumens) or surface illumination (lux).
Candela measures luminous intensity in a direction. Converting it to lumens requires a solid angle and the angular distribution of the source; it is not the same conversion as cd to mcd.
