Typography & Print Measurements Converter
Convert points, picas, pixels, inches and millimetres used in type and layout.
A pixel is a display reference unit, not a universal physical length. Physical size depends on the device pixel density.
Historical typographic points (Didot, American) differ slightly from the 1/72 inch DTP point used here.
1 pixel equals 0.75 points
About typography units
Typographic units are all defined against the inch. A DTP point is exactly 1/72 inch, a pica is 12 points, and the CSS reference pixel is exactly 1/96 inch — which makes 1 pixel exactly 0.75 point, the conversion behind every px-to-pt question in design software. Note that a pixel is a reference unit: its physical size on screen depends on the display’s pixel density.
Feet, inches, yards and miles use the international foot (0.3048 m). Older US survey-foot records use a different definition; check the survey document before applying these factors.
