About inductance units

Inductance measures the voltage a coil generates in response to a changing current. Like the farad, the henry is large in practice: most inductors in electronics are rated in millihenries or microhenries.

Inductance is measured in henries (H = V·s/A). A millihenry is 1000 microhenries; this scales the rating without changing the current or frequency conditions under which it was measured.
