About magnetic field units
Magnetic flux density is measured in tesla in SI and gauss in the older CGS system, related by exactly 1 T = 10,000 G. For scale: the Earth’s field is around 50 µT, a fridge magnet is a few millitesla, and an MRI scanner runs at 1.5 to 3 T.
This category converts magnetic flux density B, in tesla or gauss: 1 G = 10⁻⁴ T. Magnetic field strength H, often stated in A/m or oersted, is a different quantity and requires material information to relate to B.
